It’s been another ‘unprecedented’ year as the pandemic continued to surge and disrupt the way we work and live. Despite the unending lockdowns, draining zoom meetings and all-day trackiedacks, our community has continued to thrive, innovate, and search for new solutions amidst the virtual landscape.
From our Lunch and Learns, we tackled all areas of business, from contracts and mentoring, through to diversity and lettering skills. Our Facebook Knowledge Share page has brimmed with questions and answers, ideas and suggestions from our generous community. We’re so lucky to have such a supportive network of great people – thank you!
This year we worked with web design guru Luke Chambers to build a brand NEW website. Focusing on the user experience, we bolstered our members resources with new and relevant articles and videos, giving our members not only an opportunity to learn, share and promote our work, but a platform to educate the public about our industry. We are building momentum as a community of practitioners in Australia, and it is so damn exciting!
We said goodbye to committee members Will Bessen and Marc Hundleby along with our dear friend Steve Keast. Beautiful Zahra Zainal has also farewelled the committee, handing the Vice President position to existing committee member Tatum Kenna. We also welcomed two bright new faces to our committee – Cat Drysdale and Pauline Murphy. These powerhouse ladies will be heading up our Cheer & Challenge / Meetup Coordinator and Partner / Sponsor Liaison positions. They join returning members Jessamy Gee (President), Matthew Magain (Treasurer), Debbie Wood (Secretary) and Mirranda Burton (Social Media Manager).
From our survey, the results told us that you want to hear more industry-related news and topics on collaboration, leadership, hybrid workplace, communications, typography styles and creating videos/animations. We discovered you want us to promote and continue to grow our membership and community and industry.
Sooo…to explore how we might tackle these areas, we are planning a Strategy Day in Jan/Feb for the Committee. We plan to get together [in-person!!] and unpack how we can bring even greater value to our members and create future opportunities. If you have any further suggestions or areas you would like us to work on, please reach out and let us know. We can’t wait to dive into it!
To our beautiful members – thank you all for continuing to support and develop GRA. We are so proud of the community and the generous spirit of our members. We’d be nothing without you.
We wish you a very safe and happy holiday period and look forward to exciting things in 2022. Enjoy the sunshine, the people, and a solid two weeks of not looking at your laptop screen.
Much love, the GRA Fam
